Baraat in marriage

For baraat, how did the groom arrive at the bride’s home ?

Traditionally, the Raja baraat, Marriage party would be composed of the groom’s family who traveled to the home of the bride for the Marriage. After the Marriage, the bride generally returned home with the groom who lived with his parent’s brothers and other paternal relatives, such as uncles who were brother’s of the groom’s father and their father, etc.

The baraat is welcomed by the bride’s family—a ritual known as milni takes place at the venue’s entrance where the groom’s family and the bride’s family meet. The bride’s mother applies a tilak (ceremonial red dot) on the groom’s forehead and performs an aarti to ward off any evil.
